developmental
editing

You have written a book but you don’t know if it’s any good.

Am I rambling? Do I make sense? Will anyone care?  What am I missing? Who am I? Maybe I should just forget about this altogether.

Do people even read anymore? What are words, anyway? This is exhausting. Time to throw in the towel. Squirrel!

Wait. I’ve got you.

If you have a piece of work that is dear to your heart but you also feel closed in and overwhelmed by all the words,

I understand that feeling.

It takes a lot of courage and skill to bring what's in your head, through your heart and your hands, and out into the world for

other people to read.

It’s tender. Also, it’s confusing.

If you want the fresh eyes of a professional writer on your work, I offer developmental editing.

This means that I come in and breathe air into your manuscript.

I help you develop your ideas in a way that is interesting to read.

I let you know what is working, what isn’t, where you may want to dig deeper, what you can let go of, and how you can

make your writing compelling and concise so that it travels straight to the heart of your ideal reader.

What this is not:

Copyediting (changing the structure of your sentences)

Proofreading

What this is:

Ideas+honesty+love

My zone of genius is in crafting a story and saying a lot by writing very little.

I am a poet at heart and I have learned to choose my words carefully.

I am able to look at a piece of work and understand pretty quickly where the weak points are and where there is strength.

Investment:

I charge $1,000 every 100 pages in 12 font, times new roman, double-spaced.

Are you interested in having my eyes on your work?

I invite you to email me here to schedule a 20-minute call to see if we would be a good fit to work together! Congrats on writing a book. That's a really big deal.
